Car History

The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. The 1981 Chevrolet Corvette like we have here at Adventure Classics was the fastest American made car in 1981 with 0-60 at 8.1.

Engine & Drivetrain

We have a bright red 1981 Corvette that was built at the Bowling Green, Ky Plant and has the 350 cubic inch engine that produces 190 horsepower and was designated the L81.

This L81 engine is a V-8, 90-degree Overhead valve, Cast iron block displacing 350 cubic inches with the bore & stroke at 4.00 x 3.48, the compression ratio of 8.2:1, torque of 280 lb-ft @ 1600 rpm, and the gas runs thru a tried and true Rochester Quadrajet carb.

Our 1981 Corvette has a host of features including the factory black Ram Air system air cleaner, cast magnesium valve covers, stainless steel exhaust manifolds, computer control system, auxiliary electric engine cooling fan, and fiberglass rear leaf spring.

Interior

The plush tan twin bucket seat interior compliments all the power functions on board with performance style gauges, audio system, thick carpet, center console, and rear storage area.

It looks just like it did back in 1981 and is in great shape and has many options and standard features including Power windows with console-mounted controls, AM/FM push-button radio with dual front speakers, Air conditioning, heater and defroster with 3-speed blower, full instrumentation – speedometer with trip odometer, 7000-RPM tachometer, voltmeter, oil pressure and water temperature gages, Quartz analog clock, and much more.

Exterior

1981 was the first year Corvettes were ever produced in two factories at one time. The new Bowling Green, Kentucky plant produced its first Corvette on June 1, 1981 while the St. Louis plant was producing its last Corvettes.

Our Corvette has had a recent repaint over to the sweet looking bright red shade, all done at a Tampa Corvette shop who hand their hands on all of the work done on the Corvette.

It has straight body panels with sharp edges and rounded fenders that these C3s are known for. It has the factory optional 15-inch polished aluminum wheels with Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires.

Conclusion

This 1981 Corvette we have at Adventure Classics is a beauty with its red on tan paint and interior scheme and you will see how nice it rides and looks when you come check it out for yourself today.
