1960 Chevrolet Impala

Car History

The year 1960 marked the second year of the 199-inch wheelbase, X-frame, bat-wing body style Chevrolets, and the car sold quite well at 511,925 units.

The 1960 Chevrolet Impala we have a terrific example of one here at Adventure Classics that was bought out of an estate sale and has had over $150,000 dollars spent on it during its full restoration.

Driven only 69,715 miles, this rust-free, code-923 Roman Red 1960 Chevrolet Impala 348 Tri-Power was acquired from an estate and can be yours to own now.

Engine & Drivetrain

More than just a beauty, this is Chevy's factory hot rod version of the luxury Impala that boasts a Tri-Power version of the Turbo-Fire 348 cubic inch big-block V-8 with Offenhauser finned polished valve covers (the original covers and air cleaner are included with the sale), triple carbs with chrome air cleaners, chrome alternator, power steering and power brakes that is a luxury on this big-body Impala aiding maneuverability in tight spaces, and is backed by a GM 350 Turbo Hydro automatic transmission.

It also has an aftermarket radiator, new exhaust, cold vintage heat and air and rides on a set of whitewalls on steel wheels with full-size chrome Chevrolet Impala wheel covers.

Interior

This stunning Impala we have features a perfect matching red-vinyl and deluxe cloth-weave interior with heater and defrost, air conditioning, Delco AM radio, all the correct gauges, bright red 2-spoke Impala Ss steering wheel, red and clear floor mats, matching rea seat and door panels, and more.

The trunk on this beauty features an original style grey factory looking floor mat and spare tire cover, matching whitewall spare tire, tire jack and tools, and the tire jacking instructions.

Exterior

The trend toward ever larger rear body fins that dominated 1950s Detroit finally faded away in 1961, but not before one final wave of aircraft-inspired glamour queens hit the showrooms.

The full size Chevy's tailfins set off the look of the great red paint, the prominent stylized chromed jet streaks, contrasting color bar in a wake that reached clear back to the anodized aluminum tail panel with its triple bullet taillights.

The beautiful Roman Red paint with white accents has brilliant bright work, fender skirts, dual antenna and mirrors.

Conclusion

The 1960 Chevrolet Impala we have here at Adventure Classics is a great way to step back in time to the best in turn-of-the-decade big fin cruisers.

This outstanding example of an 1960 Chevrolet Impala Tri-Power is as nice as you will ever find anywhere and it will give you years of pleasure and enjoyment just driving it or at a show.
