Car History

The Ford Galaxie was a full-sized car that was built in the United States of America by Ford for model years 1959 through to 1974. The name was used for the top models in Ford's full-size range in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race.

We have a bright red 1968 Galaxie 500 convertible here at Adventure Classics with a beautiful color combination of a red/white interior and a convertible top.

Engine and Drivetrain

Our 500 is powered by the always powerful and reliable 390 cubic inch FE 6.4 Litre V8 engine that had 265 horsepower and is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission.

It looks to be the original engine and makes good power and torque with the engine bay being very nicely detailed, bright Ford Blue on the engine, chrome open-element air cleaner, air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, chrome valve covers, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, and it exhales through a dual exhaust system out the back thru the chrome tips.
It is a great car for highway road trips and wears stock steel wheels with hubcaps and fitted with more modern thin whitewall tires.

Interior

The Galaxie has a great two-tone red and white split bench seat interior with matching door panels, red dash with factory gauges and aftermarket Targa stereo AM/FM radio and speaker system, red carpeting and black floor mats.

There's room for six thanks to wide, comfortable bench seats front and rear and nobody will complain about the lack of leg room because this is a big car in every sense of the word.

Exterior

Our 1968 Ford has red paint on the body that Ford made a bunch of styling changed to that year including a different new grille with headlights arranged horizontally on the long hood- short deck style body.

Conclusion

There's a lot to like in this big Ford ragtop 1968 Galaxie 500 convertible we have here at Adventure Classics. It is priced right where it makes it an great entry-level convertible with big V8 power, room for six in the nicely preserved interior that you will enjoy driving with the top down to every cruise night and car show.
