Classic 1957 Ford Thunderbird

Car History
The 1957 Ford Thunderbird that we have here at Adventure Classics was a rear wheel drive automobile manufactured by Ford in the United States over eleven model generations from 1955 through 2005. The Thunderbird created a market niche that eventually became known as the personal luxury car.

The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a larger grille and tail fins, and larger tail lamps. The instrument panel was heavily re-styled with round gauges in a single pod, and the rear of the car was lengthened, allowing the spare tire to be positioned back in the trunk.

Mechanical Specs
Ours has what looks like an all original engine compartment with all the factory correct hose, clamps, windshield washer bag, accessories as well as the factory correct 312 cu in V8 with 4-barrel carb which had become the Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower in 1957.

It has the dress up kit with the correct finned valve covers, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, power steering and power brakes, and the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission that shifts perfect. The engine also sits in a very clean and detailed engine compartment.

The exhaust system is good and the chassis is largely original, not detailed for show but great as a driver, and wears a set of chrome wire spoke wheels with wide whitewall tires that really make it look period correct!

Interior
You will like the Pleated Raven Colonial Vinyl interior with door panels that match the dash. The gauges are in original factory condition and look great in the machine turned dash. The 57 still has the original Town & Country radio and correct black carpets and it all looks great as well as very original.

Exterior
The 1957 Ford Thunderbird we have at Adventure Classics is in gorgeous original color of Colonial White that looks great. The bodywork, fit and finish are nicely done, it has a great convertible top while the Thunderbird's famous "porthole" hardtop comes in white on top of the car.

The graceful fins and body lines has straight panels and the taillight end caps round out the rear end of the car. Other details like the Thunderbird badges, rear bumper with integrated exhaust outlets, and the stainless trim on the fender skirts are all great too.

Conclusion
The 1957 Ford Thunderbird we have at Adventure Classics is fun to drive anywhere and enjoy the iconic look as well as the looks you will get just on that "Porthole” top.
