Car History

The Ford Ranch Wagon was a station wagon which was built by Ford from 1952 to 1974. The Ranch Wagon was a full-size model and it was part of the intermediate-size Fairlane series.

The Ranch Wagon, which was a two-door model in the economy Mainline series, inspired by the European-term shooting-brake. The Ranch Wagon ran with either the standard "Mileage Maker" six-cylinder engine or the long-familiar flathead V8, which was optional.

Well, we have an ultra-rare 2-door 1960 Ford Sedan Delivery here at Adventure Classics that has had a no expense spared, full body-off restoration that really show its impeccable workmanship that cost over $70,000.00.

Engine & Drivetrain

You could get anything from a mild straight-six cylinder engine to a 352 cubic inch V-8 as all were available in the 1960 station wagon line. Although, now ours is badged as the 352 cubic inch engine, in reality it is a bigger and healthier 390 cubic inch Ford big block with “ice cold” air conditioning, correct factory valve covers, chrome air cleaner, aluminum intake and performance carb, H.D exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust, power disc brakes, and Manual Ease Steering.

It sits in a very clean, painted, detailed, and correct engine compartment and the engine is connected to an automatic transmission while riding on Cragar chrome SS period mag wheels and Red Line Radial performance tires.

Interior

Our wagon features a pair of split bench bucket seats separated by a floor console housing the automatic shifter while incorporating a lot of the factory original standard equipment including a door-actuated dome lamp, front and rear arm rests, a working clock and radio, and black floor mats with red carpeting.

The rear compartment is also covered with red carpet and included a one-hand, easy-opening tailgate that was a full foot wider than that of the competition, as well as 97 cubic feet of luggage area with the rear seats folded, leaving a luggage platform that was nearly 101/2 feet long with the tailgate down.

Exterior

1960 was a pivotal year as this Ford station wagon was fully redesigned and restyled. Ours has had the complete restoration as we said earlier and is now covered in a great looking two-tone Maroon over Silver paint scheme that must be seen.

All the chrome is shiny as well as great trim, chrome bumpers, glass, and body seams and panel fit. This is one new Sedan Delivery!

Conclusion

These big wagons were long deemed the "least cool" cars on the road because they were what most families used to tote the kids around in, but now the full-sized American station wagons are turning into today's hot collectibles.

Any enthusiasts looking to collect the fondly remembered automobiles from their youth are turning to stylish, useful classics like this ultra-rare 2-door 1960 Ford Sedan Delivery we have here at Adventure Classics.
