1968 Convertible Pontiac Firebird
Car History
Pontiacs answer to the pony car wars first two cars, the Mustang and the Camaro was the Pontiac Firebird. Many folks say that this Generation 1 Firebird was one of the best-looking Pontiacs and it was also one of the fastest with a big V8 engine propelling the light body.
We have a great 1968 Firebird convertible here at Adventure Classics with a white/red/white color combo that is powered by a 400 cubic inch engine with a 400 automatic transmission, mag wheels, and Redline tires that give it the perfect muscle car look.
Engine & Drivetrain
Horsepower comes from a period correct YD coded and correctly painted Pontiac Blue blue 400 cubic inch engine with some great performance additions like the Edelbrock aluminum intake, open element air cleaner, and carb, tube headers, dual exhaust, and an upgraded distributor and spark plug wires.
The engine is housed in a clean engine compartment and also has power brakes and power steering and the power is delivered to the factory Positraction differential by a GM automatic 400 automatic transmission.
Interior
The bright red twin bucket seat interior really sets off the white exterior in this Firebird. It has a matching red rear seat, side door panels, carpet, visors and dash as well as a woodgrain equipped dash and center console housing the automatic transmission.
It has a Pontiac AM/FM Radio with all the correct factory gauges in the console, red Pontiac Firebird steering wheel, and even has a great white convertible top as well as a nice trunk with no rust.
Exterior
Our Pontiac has a pretty white exterior complete with the dual scoop Pontiac 400 hood and emblems, a red H.O. stripe down both sides, good front and rear glass and windshield, shiny windshield trim, front and rear bumpers as well as chrome wheel well trim.
It rides great and looks great too with the 5-spoke mag wheels with Red Line tires.
Conclusion
This high-performance 1968 Firebird convertible we have here at Adventure Classics is a great Pontiac muscle car that will only become more valuable over time. It is good investment and a great top-down driving experience.
