Car History

The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro was produced by Chevrolet from 1970 through the 1981 model years. It was introduced in the spring of 1970. When Car & Driver Magazine tested a small block one in May of 1971 they stated, “It's a Camaro like none before.”

It was longer, lower, and wider than the first generation Camaro. GM engineers have said the second generation is much more of "A Driver's Car" than its predecessor.

The real 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS, per the Trim Tag which has the Z27 code on it to prove this is a real SS, we have in stock at Adventure Classics is a bright orange one equipped with the split bumper Rally Sport front end that has become such a classic.

Mechanical

Under the hood of our Camaro is a big block 396 cubic inch engine that has been built and modified and it looks and sounds like it! It has the block, heads, and intake painted in Chevrolet Racing Orange, performance carb, black open air cleaner, black painted finned aluminum valve covers, tube headers, MSD electronics, and lumpy sounding performance cam and kit. All this power is transmitted to the rear via a performance automatic transmission and shifter.

It has Vintage Air Conditioning, power steering and power brakes as well as a dual exhaust with turbo mufflers flowing out the rear. If you look underneath you will also see it has a 10-bolt rear end modified with traction bars and rolls on fat racing mag wheels with even fatter ones on the rear with black sidewall performance tires on all four.

Interior

The interior has a lot of original parts as well with the black bucket seating with matching door panels, carpet, floor mats, and rear seat, aftermarket Autometer gauges, updated Pioneer radio system, and the racing type automatic shifter.

Exterior

The bright Chevrolet Orange paint job looks super with great body work, trim, and chrome bumpers. It has white racing stripes over the Cowl Induction hood and the rear spoiler too.

The 1971 Z27 Super Sport package included bright accents, Dual exhaust, power brakes, special ornamentation, LH remote control sport mirror, black painted grille, hide-a-way windshield wipers also.

Our Camaro has the styling that gives it the performance image that is even more mean looking with the fat tires and wheels.

Conclusion

These second-generation Camaros like the 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS we have at Adventure Classics have always been collectible muscle cars that are ever increasing and are good drivers and sporty cars to cruise the roads on today.
