1964 Cadillac Deville Convertible
Car History
The Cadillac Deville is a personal luxury car that was manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 1952 to 2002 over 10 generations. Competitors with similar vehicles included the Lincoln Mark, Buick Riviera, Oldsmobile Toronado and Chrysler's Imperial Coupe.
We have a 1964 Cadillac Deville convertible here at Adventure Classics that has a great color scheme in red with a white interior and convertible top.
Mechanical
Ours has a rebuilt Cadillac 429 cubic inch engine with many other parts added to make it handle, perform, and add drivability including a new gas tank, muffler, Disc brake conversion with matching booster & valve, all new suspension with springs, shocks, ball joints, idler arm, tie rods, a 4 core radiator which is better than the 3 core, 6 blade fan clutch which is better than the straight 4 blade that it came with, Edelbrock carb, automatic transmission, and a new water pump.
Standard equipment included power steering, dual back up lights, windshield washer, dual speed wipers, wheel discs, outside rearview mirror, and oil filter.
The engine sits in an engine bay that looks period correct as it did when it left the factory with all the correct air cleaners, valve covers, and accessories.
Interior
The beautiful white bucket seat interior with red carpet looks as good as the engine with its great door panels, chrome on the dash, vanity mirror, and power windows.
The stereo system is custom built to look like the factory one by Classic Car Audio. It has Bluetooth-Ipod and additional amp capabilities, and new front & rear speakers. (The original carb, radio, and other parts are in boxes in the trunk of the car.)
It has a new top, replacement carpet but the great seats are original leather and look good.
Exterior
Our Cadillac saw a lot of new features in 1964. It got a different grille that slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip, along the horizontal plane, and sat between dual headlamps. New forward slanting front pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass were seen.
Our Deville has good red paint, chrome, trim, glass and even the correct fender skirts. It is very important to know that this car has only 45k miles on it and was only driven in summer.
The Caddy runs on great period correct tires with the factory Caddy wheel covers and drives and handles like a big Cadillac should.
Conclusion
The Cadillac Deville we have here at Adventure Classics is a great Cadillac that can be driven with confidence and enjoyed by all at the cruises and shows. It has the iconic Cadillac tail fins with a new fine-blade design carrying on the tradition for the car and will be recognized by any purist who sees it.
