1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Car History
We have a rare and restored 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer here at Adventure Classics that most enthusiasts feel is the “original SUV!”
It was a pickup truck chassis with a distinctively car like station wagon design that made it like no other 4x4 on the market.
The Wagoneer was in production for 29 years with very few changes before it has just been brought out again. This is one we have here and it is the granddaddy of them all.
Engine & Drivetrain
The 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has the 360 cubic inch engine in it looking as it did back when it was new with the flat black air cleaner with the flex hose channeling fresh air to it from the grill, 2-barrel carburetor, new spark plugs, cap and wires, newer belts and hoses, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, and all sitting in the engine compartment that is super clean and detailed.
Underneath the suspension is strong and reliable as the power is transmitted via the 3-speed Automatic Transmission to the 4-Wheel Drive and the chassis is stunningly clean for an undercarriage.
It rides on new Michelin raised white letter performance tires on re-finished 6-lug factory alloy wheels with Jeep center caps.
Interior
Inside the brand-new tan leather interior was made to match the original pattern and richly done in plush leather over the twin front bucket power operated seats and the matching rear seat as well as the center fold down seat/arm rest, and door panels.
The dash has all the black-faced gauges, controls, and trim, woodgrain, leather wrapped steering wheel has a wood horn button with jeep in the center, Power Windows, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Mirrors, Power Driver Seat, with all window motor and tracks that were recently replaced and wired with individual relays from "Josh's Relay Kit."
It also has air conditioning, plenty of room for the to stretch out with floor carpeting on the entire cab and storage area.
Exterior
Our 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has “the look” with the new beautiful maroon paint scheme creating such a classic look. Ours has paint with shine to it accented by the chrome grill and front and rear bumpers, signature bulge of the hood, single headlights and fog lights mounted on the bumper ensure great visibility, a roof rack, and a receiver trailer hitch underneath.
Conclusion
The restored 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer that we have here at Adventure Classics is the original SUV and got the job done back then and can still get the job done, now with style and class.
1984 was the only year in Grand Wagoneer trim where the wood was ordered, the first year of the Grand Wagoneer, and last year for AMC! A true classic.
