1957 NASH METROPOLITAN

Car History

The Nash Metropolitan is an American automobile that was assembled in England and marketed from 1953 until 1961.
The "Metropolitan's staying power and its never-ending cuteness" have earned it "a place among the Greatest Cars of All Time" in some collectors opinion.

It doesn't have a proud racing history, it wasn't built in huge numbers, but it does possess an ageless, cuddly quality that has made it a perennial favorite of car lovers.

We have a restored red and white 1957 Nash Metropolitan here at Adventure Classics that is all of the above.

Engine & Drivetrain

Our very original Nash has what appears to be the original and restored 91cubic inch 4-Cylinder engine and 3 speed automatic transmission that runs as good as it looks and the transmission shifts well too.

This 57 features an engine that is slightly larger than the one first introduced and the engine bay is just as sharply restored as the exterior.

It has a tight turning radius and great handling that is a pure joy and so fun to drive, and everybody loves her.

It rides on original steel painted rims and chrome center caps and trim rings with thin white sidewall tires and it looks period correct.

Interior

The Nash retains a almost perfect restored original looking interior with red/white twin front spit folding bench seat and matching rear seat, red painted dash and steering wheel, red/white door panels, red carpeting, and the automatic transmission.

The bench seat is roomier than the cars size suggests and it does have a back seat and the driver gets one large main gauge pod dominated by a speedometer with the factory stock switches and controls.

Exterior

This is a great street driven 1957 that has a bright red over white professional respray with mirror-like chrome bumpers, a full-length trim line to give a distinct border for the two-tone, color-matched wheels, and it's all skirted by the fender design.
American Motors had these built in England by BMC and these small cars have a lot of styling added like the continental kit on the rear, good body lines, trim, window glass, and chrome front and rear bumpers.

Conclusion

The 1957 Nash Metropolitan we have here at Adventure Classics was ahead of its time in many ways even though the idea of a small, economical car was not at the top of the popularity list in the 50's, but this car comes at a size and with fuel economy that actually fits today's market.

If you want a nostalgic 1957 Nash Metropolitan to cruise around in, this is the one for you.
