1949 International Harvester KB2 Pickup

Car History

The International K and KB series are trucks that were produced by International Harvester, the first being the K introduced in mid-1940. They are best known for their durability, prewar design in a postwar era, and low price.

We have a very rare and desirable body-off restored 1949 International Harvester KB2 shop pickup truck here at Adventure Classics.

It has a lot of originality as a shop truck and work truck to haul around anything. Also, with the sale comes a restored Vintage Cadet International Tractor as seen in the bed!

Engine & Drivetrain

Power for the 1947-1949 International KB series pickups was provided by the "Green Diamond" six, and this is what ours has under the hood, a 214-cid flathead producing 82 horsepower at 3400 rpm and 160 lbs/ft of torque at 1200 rpm. While the peak-torque rpm seems low, consider that the KB idled at only 350 rpm.

Our has the correctly painted and restored 214 cubic inch Flathead 6 Cylinder engine with all the stock engine parts on it like the black air cleaner assembly, factory exhaust manifolds, heads, carb, ignition system just like it came with from the factory and sits in a very nice painted, clean, and detailed engine compartment.

It has manual steering and brakes and the engine and 4-speed manual transmission was rebuilt so it can cruise reliably.

Interior

The interior looks just as great as the engine and the body and has the vinyl bench seat, matching red painted dash with all the correct stock looking gauges and some aftermarket accessory gauges under the dash, matching red door panels, manual shifter, black rubber floor mat, and the factory black steering wheel too.

The cab was utilitarian, though it did offer an adjustable bench seat and surprisingly complete instrumentation and a glovebox that matched the oblong instrument panel. Compared to other 1940s trucks, this symmetrical layout seemed almost sporty.

Exterior

The restored two-tone red/black paint flows well over the rounded fenders and blends in well with the ornate stainless grill, chrome headlights and taillights, windshield, emblems, and the painted International Farmall Tractor Supplies logo sign on the doors.

It rides on steel red painted wheels with center hubcaps and chrome trim rings with wide white wall tires and even has a matching spare tire and wheel on the step-side.

Conclusion

The very rare and desirable restored 1949 International Harvester KB2 shop pickup truck we have here at Adventure Classics is a real gem and will be the talk of any car cruise or show you drive it to.
