Car History

If you are looking for a Mercury street rod convertible, your options might be limited, but we have a very nice one that is a great running and driving 1948 Mercury Street Rod Convertible with a silver exterior and blue convertible top, and powered by the iconic Ford Flathead engine, here at Adventure Classics.

This Mercury is street rodded with great options. Mercury convertibles are rare as it is, and to find one that has been redone like this is really rare.

Engine & Drivetrain

Like we mentioned earlier, this Merc is powered by a modified iconic Ford Flathead engine with dual carbs sitting on an Offenhauser aluminum intake and heads and wearing chrome open-element air cleaners.

It has modified ignition components, Offenhauser valve covers, performance spark plug wires, chrome radiator tubes, and a reworked radiator and fan system. The factory cast iron exhaust headers flows into the dual exhaust with twin chrome tips exiting the rear with a great throaty sound.

Routing the power to the rear is handled by a smooth shifting automatic that is shifted on the column and this was built to be a cruiser as it rides on and 5-spoke mag wheels and black sidewall tires that give this drop top an undeniable presence everywhere from the cruise-in to the car show.

Interior

The blue interior is expertly upholstered on the seats, door panels, and even the carpeting for an awesome style you'll love showing off. The dash is filled with not only the right factory gauges, but it has the factory clock and accessory gauges too.

You will sit on a pair of blue bucket seats as you steer with the blue padded steering wheel mounted on the steering column with billet door and window handles, blue carpet, and blue floor mats.

Exterior

The blue folding top looks timeless against the silver paint, but for true distinction, you're going to want to open this one up to the world.

The silver paint is applied well on the body panels that Mercury shared with some of the iconic Ford's style, but you will gaze at the Merc's intricate chrome front end, sweeping fenders, rockers, and the cool taillights.

Conclusion

Mercury produced a low number of these cars back then, so chances are you will not find a great running and driving vehicle painted grey with a black convertible top, and powered by the iconic Ford Flathead engine, like the 1948 Mercury Street Rod Convertible we have here at Adventure Classics.
