1962 Chevrolet Corvette Red

Car History

This stunning Roman Red 1962 Chevrolet Corvette owned for 44 years by a private collector we have here at Adventure Classics is a perfect example of a Bloomington Gold Silver Award Winner back in 1978 and still has that look with its red hardtop today.

The 1962 model year ended up being the last model of that era before the much talked about second-generation Corvette was to debut in 1963. In the last ten years, with brilliant engineers and designers like Edward Cole, Zora Arkus-Duntov and Bill Mitchell, the 1962 C1 Corvette had become an American Sports Car Classic.

Engine & Drivetrain

The big news for the 1962 Corvette was the introduction of the 327 cubic inch V-8 engine (one of the best engines made by any auto maker that year) in place of the smaller 283 cubic inch engine.

Ours has the correct 327 cubic inch engine, which produced more horsepower and torque that was far better than anything seen prior with either a carburetor or fuel injection, with its 250 horsepower.
-
On our 327 small block Chevy engine has most of the factory components such as the aluminum open-faced air cleaner, Corvette script valve covers, ,correct date code four-barrel carb with the heated choke going into the factory cast-iron exhaust manifolds, chrome ignition shielding, and sits in the factory looking engine compartment and backed by the four-speed manual optional transmission.

Interior

The black leather twin bucket seats interior is also just like a time capsule with all the correct trim, chrome, carpet, Corvette floor mats, sport steering wheel, gauges, and dash looking as it should.

The door panels, grab handle, rear view mirror, dash with all the factory gauges, clock and radio, added center console, and seatbelts, are in fabulous original shape.

Exterior

The 1962 Corvette underwent a updated restored paint job in factory correct Roman Red that shows its styling and great body lines and filament. It is accentuated by the chrome front and rear bumpers, wonderful front chrome grill, side lower trim, iconic side coves, crossed flag emblems, and with matching red hardtop.

There is no greater classic look in a 1962 Corvette than a shiny paint job with whitewall tires and shiny chrome factory Chevrolet hubcaps with spinners.

Conclusion

The 1962 Corvette was the fastest and best handling Corvette made to date and to some it was the pinnacle of Corvettes in that era and beyond.

Our C1-1962 Corvette that was owned for 44 years by the same owner is featured at Adventure Classics for you to enjoy for the next 44 years!
