Car History

The early 60's saw the rise of drag-strips and circle track racing and American auto manufacturers were finding out that the more cubic inches and pure horsepower they could put is muscle cars, the more they would win on the racetrack and the street, hence the more of these cars they could sell.

Fords answer to the formidable competition from all the other auto makers was the big block 390 and 427 Galaxies.
We have an original California 1963 Galaxie 500 2dr Sports Roof Fastback here at Adventure Classics with a stunning black and red interior combination.

Engine & Drivetrain

Our 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 has the original big block 390 cubic inch engine under the hood topped by a single 4-barrel carburetor with the correct gold painted air cleaner system, Thunderbird logo gold factory valve covers, factory cast iron exhaust headers, power brakes, modified electronics, and even dealer added air conditioning.

It sits in a very period correct clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment with all the factory decals, and the FoMoCo windshield washer bag.

The Cruise-A-Matic automatic transmission handles the big block's horsepower and out the H.D. rear. The undercarriage has dual exhaust, H.D. suspension and rides on the original correct chrome factory wire wheel covers and whitewall tires that give it that period look.

Interior

The brand new red split bench seat interior is equally nice as the rear seat matches the front, and most all of the driver's compartment is as new including the red carpets and floormats, chrome-accented red door panel, factory deep-dish red steering wheel, red dash has the factory gauges, radio, nice stainless, heater, red padded dash and visors, and red seatbelts.

Exterior

Our Ford is painted in Onyx Black and looks sinister as it did back in 1963, but the glossy black paint is surely worlds better than it was in 1963.

The body panels look straight and the doors close solid, the chrome and stainless trim is shiny, and the factory 390 emblems on the front fenders give warning about you thinking twice about pulling up alongside it at a stop light?

Open the trunk and you will see that it too looks factory with the grey mat, spare tire and wheel, and the floor jack.

Conclusion

This black beauty 390 equipped 1963 Galaxie 500 2dr Sports Roof Fastback we have here at Adventure Classics is a real Ford muscle car that was one of the fastest Fords available in its day.

It is an iconic Ford with awesome colors and sinister looks. If you want a big block, big body Ford muscle car, this is the car you have been waiting for.
