Car History

Ford's Lincoln Division introduced the downsized Continental Mark VI in 1980 and kept the model in production through 1983. The fifth generation of Lincoln's Mark Series, the Mark VI was the first ground-up revision of the model line since 1972, and the first generation to undergo downsizing.

As the flagship line of Ford Motor Company, the Mark VI was fitted with distinct features to distinguish itself from the Lincoln Town Car, including the return of Designer Edition trims which had exclusive exterior and interior color combination and additional equipment over the standard-trim Mark VII.

This is one of them we have here at Adventure Classics. A 1983 Designer Series Pucci Edition Mark VI Lincoln Continental.

Engine & Drivetrain

The engine in our Lincoln is a small block Ford 302 cubic inch V8 with a 4-speed Automatic Overdrive Transmission (AOD) which had been developed and was an industry-first transmission that featured both a mechanically-engaged overdrive fourth gear and third and fourth-gear torque converter lock-up.

It sits in the factory stock engine compartment and retains all the air cleaner, valve covers, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, air induction, and everything that it came with from the assembly plant back then.

Interior

Our 1983 Lincoln Continental MK VI Pucci Edition retains the original Interior that is also in very good condition. It has that great rich-looking blue plush leather twin seats with armrest in the front and a matching sofa like seat in the rear along with one of the most touted options the 1983 Continental offered, the instrument cluster with speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and trip computer, and many pushbutton to operate the controls.

Other features include a premium sound AM/FM w/Cassette system, Lighting Off-Delay, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Power Locks, Power Windows, Key-Pad Entry, Power Antenna, and much more.

Exterior

The 1983 Lincoln Continental MK VI Pucci Edition has that great looking Pucci blue paint scheme that remains in very good condition accented by the carriage roof which is also in excellent shape.

All the body panels, chrome trim, badging, and lower chrome panel on each side look good on this 81,000 mile pampered Lincoln.

It rides on matched wire wheels with thin white wall tires and has a great ride and handling because Ford had put the Continental on a diet and it had previously shed 10 inches of its wheelbase and 14 inches in length losing nearly 1000 pounds of curb weight.

Conclusion

This 1983 Lincoln Continental MK VI Pucci Edition we have at Adventure Classics is a stunning scheme of the blue and dark blue top and appears to be a well-preserved example.
