Car History

We have a high-quality 1966 Ford F100 Custom Pickup here at Adventure Classics with just the right nostalgic factory stock look, but a major surprise which is powered by the Ford 428 cubic inch engine.

This 1966 Ford F100 Custom pickup has a new comfortable interior, flashy two-tone blue/white paint, and is a super pickup for the enthusiast who expects more from his trucks than just the basics.

Engine & Drivetrain

Ford's 428 cubic inch V8 engine was a powerhouse in it's day, and that is what makes it the great choice in this pickup, offering plenty of power and horsepower to get the work done and plenty of performance out on the open road.

It wears correct Ford Blue paint on the engine block and has the chrome open-element air cleaner, Cobra finned aluminum valve covers, aftermarket performance aluminum intake with the chrome Holley Performance carb, cast iron factory exhaust headers, power steering and brakes, and sits in an as-new looking painted and detailed engine compartment too. The other components look factory correct and has a very period-correct look overall.

Underneath, the chassis is straight and solid with the suspension rebuilt, fresh brakes, and a new dual exhaust system that is mellow but nice to listen to on the highway.

Interior

He completely refreshed interior consists of the comfortable blue and white vinyl bench seat
looking the same as original upholstery, matching door panels, with the dash housing the
instrument panel with a central speedometer and Super tach underneath, both of which have a
correct period look.

The steering wheel is typical of the period with a simple look and a blue skinny rim, a column-
mounted 3-speed transmission, original AM radio in the dash, and a newer rubber mat and
floor mats on the floor, just in case it needs to get back to work.

Exterior

The two-tone blue and white paint is the first giveaway that this truck was intended to do more than haul stuff for a living. The Arcadian Blue has been refinished surfaces on this truck have Wimbledon White to offset it on the hood and flanks.

In 1966 Ford realized that style could sell trucks so it looks quite stylish today, combining a sleek fleet side bed with dramatic body lines that give it a muscular look. The sheet metal is extremely straight with a brilliant shine.

The Custom upgrade added quite a bit of brightwork, including that big grille and the stainless side trim, and bright chrome on both the front and rear bumpers. The bed is painted in blue/white also and has a removable rubber mat.

The F100 rides on good looking white letter BF Goodrich Trans Am Radials and chrome aftermarket 5-spoke styled aftermarket wheels that add to the sporty look.

Conclusion

Collectors are starting to realize that these older trucks are great investments and the restored 1966 Ford F100 Custom Pickup we have here at Adventure Classics, with that potent 428 V8 engine, makes this one special.
