Car History

The 1949-51 Ford was an American automobile produced by Ford. It was the first all-new automobile design introduced by the Big Three after World War II, civilian production having been suspended during the war, and the 1946-1948 models from Ford, GM, and Chrysler being updates of their pre-war models.

Popularly called the "Shoebox Ford" for its slab-sided design, the 1949-51 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders and more. The design would continue through the 1951 model year.

The restored 1951 Ford Coupe we have at Adventure features a stock factory look from its green paint, grey plaid interior, to the factory wheels and whitewall tires.

Engine & Drivetrain

Under the hood of this Ford you will find what is the essence of all early Fords, a real “Flathead Ford.” It is 239 cubic inches of Ford V8 fury and has restored to all its factory stock looking glory with copper colored intake, engine block, fan, and air cleaner.
It has new spark plug wires and ignition parts and hoses, and much more and looks great sitting in the clean, painted, and detailed engine compartment.

It is backed by a three-speed manual transmission and rolls on white-wall tires with factory chrome wheel hubcaps.

Interior

The interior of our Ford is a stock appearing green-grey design. The split bench seat is very comfortable and both it and the rear are finished out in the two-tone scheme. The dash has all the stock gauges, instrument panel housing all the correct controls, knobs, and radio, the three-speed shifter on the column, and grey carpet.

Exterior

Back when this car was new, it was an instant hit, outselling the Chevrolet by nearly 10%. All 1951 Fords sported a new "dual-bullet" grille and heavy chrome bumpers.

Our Vicky is a green with great chrome and trim, emblems, lights, fender covers, and a sunshade too.

And the winged V emblem and side Victoria and V8 Flathead Ford emblems let everyone know that this car was and is in a class by itself.

Conclusion

This 1951 Ford Coupe we have here at Adventure Classics is one enduring classic that deserves to be owned by someone who wants a car that embodies all the right stuff from back then.

These 51's are becoming, arguably one of the most favored, among vintage car builders and customizers. Come get this one today.
