Car History

We have a 1976 Continental Mark IV with Black Diamond Luxury Group here at Adventure Classics with only 30,100 miles on it that is simply stunning.

Lincoln tried something new for the Continental Mark IV to increase sales and exclusivity, they introduced a limited-edition mode, with only 1587 built, with basically a pre-selected exterior paint color and interior trim package that wasn't available otherwise, the Black Diamond Edition.

Engine & Drivetrain

This luxury sedan features its original 460 cubic inch big block V-8 engine and the automatic transmission so this vehicle is completely numbers-matching, has been well maintained over the years, and looks and drives great.

The Mark IV series is also coveted for offering the 460 cubic-inch V8 under the hood has the same high level of preservation as the rest of the car, right down to the factory decals that are still in place.

These engines are famous for their torque and it moves this large coupe with the kind of effortless performance you expect, supple ride with the power steering, three-speed automatic transmission, and power brakes w/discs up front.

Interior

Inside is the beautiful Black Leather interior that was advertised as triple black with leather seats. The Black Diamond Luxury Group was announced late in the year, so the production run was a short one, which makes this a rarely seen option today. In fact, many may not even be aware of their Mark IV's special status, since this beautiful color combination is very understated when compared to some of the others available in 1976.

Lincoln paid attention to the details. The dash, carpeting, and door panels all remain well-preserved in matching black as well as the rear seat. This Mark IV is all about executive-level of luxury and came with a ton of terrific features including wood grain dash and door panels, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, tilt steering column, cruise control, and power front seats so you can easily find your ideal driving position.

Even the luggage compartment was detailed with dark gray carpeting, side panels, and spare tire cover.

Exterior

The exterior is the special original shade called Black Diamond Fire Metallic with its Black Cayman Grain Custom Landau Vinyl Roof with wide chrome trim which featured a distinctive Alligator-grain vinyl pattern that gives it the Lincoln Mark look.

This particular vinyl has a shinier finish from the manufacturing process, giving it an almost patent leather look, although not quite that shiny. The Mark IV was all about being bold with its luxury.

The front and rear bumpers both have sharply pointed ends and sharply pointed fenders while the grille looks like a Rolls-Royce, and it rides on whitewall tires on the factory steel wheels and styled wire wheel hubcaps.

The seller states that the odometer reflects actual mileage of 30,100 and we believe that to be true because all the distinctive pieces of this car have been so well preserved that this low mileage is true.

Conclusion

The 1976 Continental Mark IV Black Diamond Edition we have here at Adventure Classics is almost completely original. Has a terrific coordinating color combo, big V8 power, and all the luxury you want.

This classic premium coupe has a such a high degree of originality that you know it has been treated with respect from day one so you will know what premium vintage luxury is all about.
